Petrasek Joins Charlotte Hornets Summer League Roster

Petrasek spent 2017-18 with the Greensboro Swarm, the Hornets affiliate in the NBA G League. Plus, an update of former #ColumbiaMBB players playing professionally.

NEW YORK – Former Columbia men's basketball standout Luke Petrasek '17CC gained a spot on the Charlotte Hornets NBA Summer League team that will compete in Las Vegas from July 6-17. The Hornets first two games are slated for Friday, July 6, against the Oklahoma City Thunder at 5:30 p.m. on ESPNU and Sunday, July 8, against the Miami Heat at 5 p.m. on NBA TV. Petrasek saw action in 50 games, making 29 starts for the Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Hornets, in 2017-18. The former All-Ivy Leaguer and 1,000-point scorer at Columbia posted averages of 6.4 points and 4.6 rebounds and shot 89.5 percent from the foul line. ALUMNI IN THE PROS UPDATE Joining Petrasek in the pro ranks will be Nate Hickman '18CC, who was drafted by Limoges Cercle Saint-Pierre in France. Hickman becomes the fifth player to sign with a professional team in the past three seasons and is one of six active former Lions currently playing. Here's a recap of how each fared in their respective seasons. Maodo Lo '16CC completed his second team with Brose Bamberg, helping the squad reach the semifinals of the league. Lo averaged 8.7 points and 2.2 assists in 34 games, which included 12 starts. Columbia's No. 3 all-time scorer with 1,756 points started in five of Bamberg's seven playoff contests. Jeff Coby '17CC started the year with CB Prat Juventud in the Spanish "Gold League" before moving on to Cambados Xuven in the "Silver League." In 11 games with Cambados Xuven, Coby averaged 11.7 points and 9.2 rebounds in just under 24 minutes of action. Most recently, he competed with the Haitian national team at the AmeriCup Caribbean Pre-Qualifier and averaged 14.8 points and 10.5 rebounds in four games. Alex Rosenberg '16CC played in 18 contests with Bnei Herzelia, his first year with the club and second in the Israeli League. He averaged 3.5 points and 1.6 rebounds. KJ Matsui '09CC, the longest tenured former Lion, completed his seventh season in Japan and first with the Aishin Sea Horses.
