FOOTBALL HOSTS NO. 8 FROSTBURG STATE ON SATURDAY

TCNJ opens its home schedule with an NJAC game against No. 8 Frostburg State. TCNJ will play four home games this season, and Saturday’s game against the Bobcats is the Lions’ lone home game in the first half of their schedule.

TCNJ has a limited history against Frostburg. The Lions are 1-6-1 against the Bobcats and have lost five straight times. This will likely be the final meeting between the two schools at least for the immediate future. Frostburg State is moving to NCAA Division II beginning in 2019.

A pair of TCNJ freshmen found the end zone in their collegiate debuts last week against FDU-Florham.

Mark Pacini scored late in the game to make it 35-21 with 1:59 remaining in the fourth quarter. Pacini rushed nine times for 33 yards, finishing second on the team in ground yardage.

TCNJ fell, 49-14, to Frostburg State in last season’s meeting. The 11th-ranked Bobcats got off to a quick start, producing a pair of big plays in the opening minutes to take a two-touchdown lead in the blink of an eye. The Lions battled but dug a hole that was too deep to climb out of against a talented Frostburg team.

Following Saturday’s game against Frostburg, TCNJ travels to No. 9 Wesley, Salisbury and Montclair State before returning home to face Rowan on Oct. 13.
