Moro’s Hat-Trick Gives Lehman A 5-1 Victory Against Medgar Evers
Bronx, N.Y. – Senior midfielder Omar Moro had three goals (hat-trick) to give the Lehman College men's soccer team a 5-1 win over visiting Medgar Evers at South Field on Saturday. The Lightning's victory ended a four-game losing streak as they now have a 3-5 record, 1-1 CUNYAC, while the Cougars fall to 0-6, 0-2 in conference play. Senior forward Sahl Alzubidi got Lehman on the board first in 17th minute, scoring his fifth goal of season, off a low cross from junior midfielder Marcus Folkes. Medgar Evers' Darrell Ambersley tied the match off a corner kick in the 24th minute-mark. Moro gave the Lightning the lead, with his first of three tallies, in 57th minute off a double assist play from Alzubidi and sophomore midfielder Eduardo Victorio. A minute later, Moro had his second goal of the match after an assist from freshman forward Mubarack Ouro. The two would combine again as Ouro gave another pass to Moro to complete his hat-trick in the 64th minute. Junior midfielder Mendim Gashi closed out the scoring for the Lightning in the 85th minute off an assist from freshman midfielder Jason Tinoco. Lehman returns to action next Wednesday when it travels to take on conference foe York College at 4:30 pm in Jamaica, N.Y.
