October 16, 2018

Rindge, N.H. - With a team-high 16 kills, McKenna Clawson and the Adelphi University volleyball team rolled to their fifth consecutive three-set win over Franklin Pierce University Saturday afternoon.

For the Panthers (18-4, 7-1 NE10)  Sarah Bisbe ranked second in kills on the team with eight while contributing a match-best 10 digs on defense. The home team struggled with Adelphi's service as they committed 12 reception errors.

In the first set after trailing 4-1, the Ravens came within one, but Adelphi went on a 7-2 scoring binge to take an 11-5 lead.  Trailing 14-6, FPU notched four consecutive points with two of them off a Brittney Carias ace and a dual block  to cut into the lead at 14-10. Adelphi outscored the Ravens 11-2 over the rest of the set.

A Sarah Bisbe attack error and another Carias ace gave the Ravens the early 2-0 edge. Cara McKenzie quickly turned momentum back to the guest side by stuffing a Garnhart attack at the net. The Brown and Gold closed out the set via a 13-2 scoring binge capped off by a Bisbe kill to lead 17-8 late.

Adelphi started fast in the third, jumping out to a 6-2 lead. The Panthers stormed ahead to take a 17-7 lead midway through the set, but the Ravens continued to battle. Five straight points from the hosts brought the deficit down to five, 17-12, however the visitors gained those five points immediately back and led 22-12. The Panthers halted one last Raven charge to complete the sweep.
