Monroe Football Jumps to No. 13 in NJCAA Rankings Ahead of Regular Season Finale

CHARLOTTE, N.C., November 6, 2018 – After pulling out a gritty 12-7 victory in wet and muddy conditions at Erie Community College on Saturday, the Monroe College football team jumped up two spots to No. 13 in the NJCAA Football Rankings, as announced by the NJCAA on Tuesday. The Mustangs fell behind early in Saturday's contest when Erie scored a first-quarter touchdown. It did not take long for Monroe to narrow the gap, as Tim Donnahue returned a squibbed kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown to make it a 7-6 game. The Mustangs were able to capitalize on an Erie fumble in the second quarter. The Mustangs took advantage of the short field, eventually resulting in a one-yard touchdown run by Jalen Brown to make it a 12-7 game. That was it for the scoring in the messy conditions on Saturday, as the Mustangs improved to 6-1 on the season. The Mustangs wrap up the regular season this Saturday, Nov. 10, when they host Hocking College at Joseph F. Fosina Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 27 teams competing across nine sports.
