VB: Hofstra To Face Nebraska In NCAA Tournament

Hempstead, NY - The bracket for the 2018 Division I Volleyball Championship was announced this evening and the Hofstra Volleyball team will open play in the NCAA Tournament with a match against Nebraska. The contest will be played on Friday, November 30 at 7 p.m. (local) in Lincoln, Nebraska. Arizona and Missouri will meet in the other match in Lincoln on Friday. Hofstra (25-7) captured the Colonial Athletic Association title last Sunday with a five-set win over James Madison. The title advanced Hofstra to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in program history and the first since 2014. The Pride has previously made the NCAA Tournament in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2006, 2012 and 2014. It marked Hofstra's fourth CAA title as well, joining the 2006, 2012 and 2014 squads. Nebraska enters the NCAA Tournament with a 24-6 record and has won eight straight matches. The Huskers finished in third in the Big Ten Conference this season. The Cornhuskers won the 2017 National Championship with a four-set win over Florida. This will be the third-ever meeting between the programs and ironically the first since a meeting in the NCAA Tournament in 2014. Nebraska has won both previous meetings as the Cornhuskers captured a four-set win on September 16, 1989 at the Minnesota/Reebok Classic and then earned tight three-set win on December 5, 2014.
