THOROUGHBREDS FACE #12 MIT AT SWARTHMORE IN NCAA FIRST ROUND

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The Skidmore College men's basketball team will take on #12 MIT in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at Swarthmore College's Tarble Pavillion. The 19-7 Thoroughbreds will tip against MIT (22-4) at 5:30 p.m. March 1. Sixth ranked Swarthmore (24-3) is hosting the four-team pod and will play Mitchell College (19-9) at 7:30 p.m. The winners will play in the pod final on March 2 at 7 p.m. Skidmore earned its way into the 64-team tournament by winning the Liberty League tournament Sunday, 82-66 over Hobart. This will be the team's sixth tournament appearance in the past nine seasons. The Thoroughbreds lost to eventual NCAA champion Babson College in the second round of the 2017 tournament, 72-65. Skidmore features two of the nation's top players in senior guard All-American Edvinas Rupkus and sophomore guard Noah Meren. Rupkus is the program's all-time leading scorer with 2110 points. He's averaging 17.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. Meren, the Liberty League tournament MVP, is scoring 21.2 points per game, while adding 3.1 assists, and a team-high 6.5 rebounds.
