Softball Seeded Fourth in Seattle Regional, to Play #3 Washington on Friday

Bronx, N.Y. – The 2019 Atlantic 10 co-champion Fordham softball team (29-24) has earned a seventh straight NCAA berth and found out its Regional placement during Monday night's Selection Show on ESPN2 – the Rams will head to the Seattle Regional as the fourth seed, hosted by last year's Women's College World Series runners-up, #3 Washington (45-7), alongside Seattle (39-15) and Mississippi State (33-21). Fordham and Washington will play on Friday night, May 17, at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN3. Fordham was named Atlantic 10 co-champion alongside George Washington earlier on Sunday when game two of the Championship final was cancelled due to inclement weather and an unplayable field. The Rams earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals by winning the regular season championship, as per conference policy. The winners of Friday's contests will meet at 6 p.m. ET, while the losers will meet immediately after. The winner of the latter will meet the loser of the former at 11 p.m. ET for a chance to advance to the Regional Final, which will be held on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET. This is the program's seventh straight NCAA berth and ninth overall. In recent years, the team has traveled to James Madison, Oklahoma, Oregon, Utah, and Louisiana. Seattle, who the Rams faced earlier this year, and Mississippi State, who Fordham defeated at the Salt Lake City Regional two years ago, will kick off action on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Both contests will be on ESPN3. Washington will also host the best-of-three Super Regionals against the winner of the Lexington Regional, comprised of #14 Kentucky, Illinois, Toledo, and Virginia Tech. Super Regionals begin the following week on May 24.
