Softball Ranked No. 8 in Final NFCA Division II National Poll
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its final 2019 rankings on Wednesday, June 5, tabbing the LIU Post softball team as the No. 8-ranked team in Division II this season. The Pioneers conclude their historic final season at the Division II level by matching its highest ever final ranking. LIU Post also finished the season ranked No. 8 by the NFCA during the 2007, 2008, and 2014 seasons. This is the fifth time that the Pioneers finish the year ranked in the top-10, earning the No. 9 spot during the 2011 campaign. Led by head coach Jamie Apicella, the Green and Gold reached the NCAA National Championship for the fifth time in program history after defeating No. 1-seed Saint Anselm College during the East Region Championship Series. The Pioneers racked up a program record 51 total victories, while also setting a new program mark with 44 regular-season wins. LIU Post finished the regular season 22-2 in East Coast Conference play and the league named Apicella the Coach of the Year for the 12th time during his 21 seasons in Brookville.
