Calderón Signs National Team Replacement Contract With Houston Dash

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Former LIU women's soccer standout Arian Calderón has signed a contract with the Houston Dash, of the National Women's Soccer League. The club announced it had acquired the forward as a national team replacement.
Calderón comes into Houston from Thór/KA, a team in Iceland where she spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons, making 33 appearances as a forward. The Mexican-American has played for the Mexican National Team since 2014, scoring two goals and tallying 13 appearances. Calderón represented Mexico at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada, her first World Cup appearance.
At Long Island University, the forward became the first player to make the NSCAA First Team All-Region Squad. Calderón tied the school career mark in goals scored with 29 and concluded her career as the all-time leader with 69 points. In her four years there, Calderón finished with a team-best 64 shots and five game-winning goals.
The Houston Dash are back in action Saturday, June 15, at 7:30 p.m. CDT against Orlando Pride at BBVA Compas Stadium in Houston, Texas. The game will be streamed live on Yahoo! Sports. Houston's release can be seen here.
