NJCU to Host Joan Olson College Women’s Basketball Summer League
ERSEY CITY, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | New Jersey City University will host the inaugural Joan Olson College Basketball Summer League, beginning July 8 and running for a month on Monday and Wednesday evenings at NJCU's John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center on Coach Charlie Brown Court. Sean Devaney, younger brother of NJCU women's basketball coach Pat Devaney, Sr. will serve as commissioner of the six-team league, which will feature seven regular-season games through July 29. The quarterfinal round is Wednesday, July 31 with the top two teams receiving byes. The semifinals and championship rounds being contested on August 5 and 7. The league is named in honor of Joan Olson, the late grandmother of the Devaney's and a former Jersey City resident. The league includes NJCU, Bloomfield, Felician, Union County College, a combined FDU-Florham/Stevens squad and an alumni team known as Free Agents.
