Women's Soccer Wins Fifth Straight, Takes NJAC Opener, 3-0


Montclair, NJ – Sophomore LINDSAY BATHMANN triggered a three-goal run by Montclair State during a nine-minute span of the second half as the Red Hawks blanked Rutgers-Camden 3-0 in its NJAC opener at MSU Soccer Park on Saturday. SAMANTHA SENATORE and KAITLYN SCRIVANICH each netted a goal as the Red Hawks extended their winning streak to five matches (5-2-1, 1-0 NJAC). The Red Hawks also upped their record against the Scarlet Raptors (0-6, 0-1 NJAC) to 21-0-2 all-time. The teams played to a scoreless first half with Montclair taking all four shots through the first 45 minutes. Bathmann put the first goal on the board at the 52:19 mark taking a pass from MADDIE MUSICO for her first of the season. MSU added to the lead less than two minutes later as EMILY BEENDERS fed SAMANTHA SENATORE for her first career goal and a 2-0 Red Hawk advantage. Scrivanich got the final goal in the 62nd minute with freshman TORI ROLLS and sphomore EMILY DEGEYTER each contributing on the play. Goalkeeper LINDSAY FREEWALT made two stops to record her third shutout of the season and the Red Hawks sixth of the 2019 campaign. MSU outshot Rutgers-Camden 12-2 in the contest and also had the edge in corners, 4-3. Montclair State returns to action on Wednesday, September 25 making the short seven-mile journey to Wayne for a 7:00 pm NJAC matchup with local rival William Paterson.
