The integrated audio driver is available on www.dell.com/support/drivers and on the Resource CD under Audio Drivers. The driver is labeled Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated HD Audio. Once the driver is obtained, execute the file; it unzips and prompts users to continue the installation process.
The Intel AMT Serial-Over-LAN (SOL) / Local Manageability Service (LMS) driver is available on www.dell.com/support/drivers and on the ResourceCD under Chipset Drivers. The driver is labelled Intel AMT SOL/LMS. Once the driver is obtained, execute the file; it unzips and prompts the user to continue the installation process.

Take a look at the "Compatibility" section - there we are, OptiPlex 755! And yes, they are for Vista, but they work for Windows 7, too - at least they have been reported to have worked for the posters at the Dell forum referenced above. (I am verifying that the Vista drivers work for those of us in Windows 7 land - the posters at the Dell Community forum seemed to be indicating so.)
Thanks, I have tried both of these with the following results. These were both downloaded from the Dell site for my Optiplex755 setting the OS as Vista x64 R194010 - on install I get "operating system not supported" R194011 - almost installs but fails when the intel unzip stops at "difxapi.dll" I am installing Windows 7 Home Premium as a complete fresh install.
Now, I haven't had an opportunity to test this yet, so I am hoping you will want to have a go at trying this out... and hopefully it will work, somehow. I had to run the installations for the drivers after I hand expanded them to their respective folders.
THe serial port driver, and something else called "PCI Simple Communications Controller" (possibly a modem on the motherboard) are listed as "other devices" in the device manager, with yellow exclamation marks in the icons meaning they have no drivers installed.
Dell does not list any drivers on their usual website where you enter your service tag. I am pretty sure this is a standard Intel Q## chipset. Does anybody know which one exactly, and where I can get the chipset drivers and particularly, the serial port drivers, for 64 bit Windows 7?
Go to Dell's support site and look up 745C drivers under "Chipset". Download the last 2 drivers and install them in your Dell driver directory under Intel PCI Driver Management. Use these to update the drivers in the Device Manager and problem fixed!
