Women's Basketball Stifles Kingsborough in First NJCAA Matchup of 2018
Bayside, NY) On Tuesday, Nassau Women's Basketball Team had their first NJCAA matchup of the 2018-2019 season. They traveled to Brooklyn to compete against Kingsborough Community College. In the first half, Nassau quickly jumped out to a 31 point lead burying the Wave from the beginning. In the second half they continued to communicate and create easy opportunities for scoring. Nassau walked away with a 108-52 win. Standout players of the game were Bri'Anna Jones who tallied 25 points, while teammate Bobbi Green recorded 18 points and 6 steals. Ashley Barret had 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 steals. Cherish Francis clocked in with 15 points, 6 assists, and 6 steals. Freshman Emily Pohalski came out with 10 points. Head Coach Brian Kuar commented after the game, "We were able to force turnovers and get stops, which allowed to capture easy baskets. We were solid defensively, but I know we still have a lot of work to do in order for us to get where we want to go this season." The Lions are now 3-1. This weekend they will compete in the Community College of Morris Turkey Hoop Shoot in New Jersey.
