The Cortland women's gymnastics squad will be one of six teams competing at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships March 23 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Competition begins at 4 p.m. (Central). Cortland was one of three qualifying teams, along with Brockport and Ithaca, from the NCGA East Championships after finishing in third place. The three West qualifying squads are Wisconsin-Stout, Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Wisconsin-Whitewater. For the first time this year, the NCGA Championships will be a one-day event. By qualifying as a team, any Cortland gymnast who competes on Saturday will be eligible for individual national titles and All-America honors. Schools who did not qualify as a team can have individual competitors at the meet based on a combination of regional finishes and Seasonal Average Scores. The following Cortland gymnasts are ranked in the top 10 nationally in Division III based on Seasonal Average Score: Emma Schulz (Poughquag/Arlington) - tied 3rd, Balance Beam, 9.7313 SAS and tied 4th, Floor Exercise, 9.8063 SAS Rachel Filipski (Lancaster) - 5th, Vault - 9.6688 SAS Schulz and Filipski are both returning All-Americans. Schulz tied for third nationally on balance beam and Filipski was eighth on vault at last year's nationals. The top eight finishers in each event are All-Americans.
