UC Remains Fourth In Latest National Poll

UTICA, NY - The nationally-ranked Utica College men's ice hockey team remained in the same position in the national poll this week. The Pioneers checked in at the fourth position for a second straight week in the latest edition of the US College Hockey Online Division III Men's Top 15. The weekly national survey of coaches, sports information directors, and media members is released each Monday throughout the season. The entire top five in this week's USCHO poll remained stagnant as top-ranked Norwich University, Geneseo, UW-Eau Claire, Hobart, and Utica all won their games this weekend. The Pioneers downed Elmira by a 3-2 score, then trounced Lebanon Valley by a 5-0 score to complete a weekend sweep. The Pioneers are now 17-2-2, and have won a program record twelve straight games. That is the nation's longest winning streak in all of men's college hockey, and is the second longest unbeaten streak as well. The Pioneers remain even with their best ranking from the USCHO poll in program history, after previously achieving the fourth spot in the 2016-17 season. Utica's best ever coaches' and media poll ranking was in the D3hockey.com poll in 2013, when the Pioneers were ranked third. The latest pairwise ranking, which is a computerized system now utilized to assist the NCAA committee in selecting and seeding the NCAA Division III hockey tournament fields, currently has Utica in second.
