Brockport Stumbles On The Road Against RIT

BROCKPORT, N.Y.—The College at Brockport baseball team took on a non-conference opponent on Wednesday and came up short as Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) took the win by a score of 6-1. The Golden Eagles now hold an overall record of 14-14, while the Tigers move to .500 with an 8-8 mark on the year. The Green and Gold were neck-and-neck with the Tigers throughout the first two innings, as neither team was able to string together hits to score a run. That changed in the bottom of the third, as the opposition jumped out to a 3-0 lead, one that Brockport could not come back from. The Golden Eagles knocked in their first run of the game in the top of the eighth inning, after Justin LaRosadoubled to center field and was brought around to score after a Nicholas Pastore single. Pastore ended the day 2-for-4 with one RBI, while LaRosa was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Cooper Meldrimpitched well as the first arm to come out of the bullpen. He through 2.1 innings of one run baseball, on two hits and struck out two. Brockport will next host SUNY Fredonia for the team's home opener on Saturday, April 21.
