Six from Bowling Earn NTCA All-Academic Awards


Brooklyn, N.Y. - Six members of the Adelphi University bowling program were honored by the National Tenpin Coaches' Association for academic achievement this week, earning NTCA All-Academic status. These student-athletes are six of a record 268 honorees at 55 schools, a new best for the organization for both individuals and schools since the inception of the award in 2006. To be recognized, a student athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher for the academic school year. Adelphi's honorees for the past academic year are Kimberly Bonar, McKenna Collier, Rebecca Gotterbarn, Katelyn LaRocca, Olivia Lopera and Lena Sorrentino. As a team, the Panthers posted a 3.633 GPA for the 2017-18 academic year.About Adelphi Athletics Adelphi University joined the Northeast-10 Conference in the fall of 2009, and in the past eight seasons, has collected 27 regular season conference titles, 29 tournament championships, 41 individual crowns and captured the Northeast-10 Presidents' Cup four times (2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017), while winning six NCAA Division II National Championships.
