20 Wagner women's water polo student-athletes receive ACWPC All-Academic accolades


Staten Island, NY - The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced its 2018 All-Academic Awards on Thursday, July 5 with 20 Wagner College student-athletes earning recognition. This award honors those student-athletes who have achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average or higher and competed during the season. The individuals are awarded at three levels: excellent (3.2-3.4 GPA), superior (3.41-3.7) and outstanding (3.71-4.00). The Wagner women's water polo team, who captured its fifth-straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) championship this spring, earned a team honor for having a team grade-point average over 3.0. This season, the Green & White secured a 3.57 GPA, which was the fourth-highest team grade-point average among all women's water polo teams in the nation. Seven Seahawks were tabbed to the outstanding category with a successful year that placed them between a 3.41 and 3.70 cumulative GPA. These athletes included seniors Kimberly Watson and Elise Begg, sophomores Kristy Donkin and Sophia Spengler along with freshmen Erin Weisert, Daisy Nankervis and Julia Luciani. A total of ten student-athletes earned superior recognition with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.41 to 3.70. On the list are seniors Anna Ward and Lacey Anderson, juniors Natalie Kayton and Katelyn Traut. Sophomores Jaqueline Sjogren and Franciska Milo-Sidlo joined list while freshmen Teagan Hamel, Katherine Campbell, Malia Josephson and Allison Long rounded out the superior selections. Additionally, three Seahawk juniors attained excellent status with a grade-point average ranging from 3.20 to 3.40 as Erica Hardy, Sarah Limanni and Abby Irving earned this recognition.
