BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES SIGNING OF GUARD SAMUEL CHAPUT
WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth Men's Basketball and Head Coach King Rice have announced the signing of Samuel Chaput, a guard from Longueuil, Quebec. Chaput is set to join the Hawks for the upcoming 2018-19 season. "Sam is a great addition to our program and we're so excited to have him on our team," said Rice. "He's an outstanding young man that comes from a great family and we're glad he chose to come with us at Monmouth." Chaput graduated from Saint Anthony High School in Texas after averaging 22 points, eight assists and two steals per game throughout his scholastic career. His final season with the Yellowjackets netted him a First-Team All-TAPPS Conference nod. "Signing with Monmouth means a lot to me," said Chaput. "My goal was always to play Division I basketball and Monmouth gave me a great opportunity to do that. I'm really excited to come here and be a part of the family." The guard played with Yes 2 Success, helping them to a strong showing at the Adidas Gauntlet Tournament in 2017. He previously played scholastically at Pagé High School in Canada. Chaput is the son of Simon Chaput and Laurence Vaval and plans to major in business at Monmouth.
