6 Women's Water Polo Players Named to 2017-18 MAAC Academic Honor Roll
BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, NY
6 Terriers were named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll for the 2017-18 year, the MAAC office announced today. To be eligible for the MAAC Honor Roll, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of a 3.20 or higher. Headlined by 5 upperclassmen, the Terrier student-athletes from the Women's Water Polo team represent 5 different majors and continue the strong representation of academics on the Women's Water Polo squad. "We are extremely proud of these student-athletes" stated Director of Athletics Irma Garcia ('80). "To see 5 upperclassmen lead the way shows a strong commitment to our student-athletes to push themselves as they grow through their class years here at St. Francis College. Knowing that our student-athletes pride themselves not only in their respective athletic endeavours, but in preparing themselves for life upon graduation, I am not suprised to see these student-athletes named to the 2017-18 MAAC Academic Honor Roll. They truly are "Brooklyn Smart!" Recent Graduates Emma Gaffney (Communication Arts) and Niccole Salomone (Management) led the way for the Terriers, while rising Seniors Erin Gonzalez (Psychology), Nicole Herrick (Nursing), Vladana Maksimovic (Accounting) and rising Sophomore Bianca Gonzalez (Nursing) finished out the Honorees for SFC. "I am so proud of these ladies! For our Student-Athletes, we always stress the importance of Academics, and these 6 have demonstrated that they are able to work as hard in the classroom as they do in the pool," mentioned head Women's Water Polo Coach Megan Husak.
For the 5th straight Academic Year, Terrier Student-Athletes had an average GPA of above a 3.0. For the 2017-18 Academic Year, the Terriers Student-Athletes averaged a GPA of 3.2.
