Five Rams Named Preseason All-Patriot League

Bronx, N.Y. – Five members of the Fordham University football squad were named the to the 2018 Preseason All-Patriot League team it was announced by the league office prior to today's Patriot League Football Media Day Teleconference. The five receiving the honor included senior co-captains, defensive back Dylan Mabin and tight end Isaiah Searight, along with senior wide receiver Austin Longi, senior offensive lineman Dominic Lombard and sophomore linebacker Glenn Cunningham. In team standings, the Rams were picked to place third, behind Colgate and defending champions Lehigh University in a vote by the Patriot League football head coaches and sports information directors. The Raiders notched eleven first-place votes from their opponents to finish with 71 points in the poll with the Mountain Hawks earning three first place votes and 63 points. Fordham received 45 points, followed by Holy Cross (40), a tie for fifth by Bucknell (31) and Lafayette (31), and Georgetown (13).

Senior DB Dylan Mabin

Mabin, who started all eleven games at cornerback for the Rams in 2017, was a first team All-Patriot League and All-ECAC selection in 2017. He recorded 44 total tackles, 35 solo, including three for loss. He also led the team with 19 pass breakups, ranking second in the Patriot League and third in the NCAA FCS in passes defended (1.6/game). Mabin also forced two fumbles and recovered one and returned 30 kickoffs for 672 yards (22.4 yards/return), including one for 93 yards and a touchdown, and three punts for 20 yards. In 33 career games, Mabin has 111 total tackles, 94 solo, and 29 pass deflections. Searight, who earned second team All-Patriot League honors in 2016 and 2017, caught 33 passes for 452 yards last fall, both third best among the Rams. He set the Fordham single game record for receiving yards by a tight end in the Lehigh game, hauling in eight passes for 139 yards with two scores, all career-highs. Over his career, Searight has 47 receptions for 640 yards and six touchdowns. Longi, who missed five game with injuries, earned first team All-Patriot League honors at wide out last fall after being named second team in 2016. He caught 38 passes, second best on the team, for a team-high 478 yards and three touchdowns while also returning 13 punts for 163 yards (12.5 yards/return) with one score, a 90-yard return for a touchdown that broke both the school and Patriot League record for longest punt return. He recorded three 100-yard receiving games in 2017, including 13 catches for 150 yards. Both career-highs, with one score at Georgetown. Over his career, Longi has 131 receptions for 1,715 yards and 15 touchdowns. His 1,715 career receiving yards in eleventh best all-time at Fordham while his 15 receiving touchdowns is ninth best.

Senior WR Austin Longi

Lombard started all eleven games on the offensive line as a junior, eight at center and three at right guard. He blocked for an offense that averaged 371.7 yards of total offense/game, third best in the Patriot League, including 238.9 passing yards/game, also third best in the league and 31st among all NCAA FCS teams. Cunningham, who was recently named a finalist for the STATS Jerry Rice Award as the top NCAA FCS freshman, finished his rookie campaign leading the Rams with 82 total tackles, 54 solo, in ten games. Among his 82 stops were 9.5 for loss and 5.5 sacks, both team-highs. Cunningham ranked third in the Patriot League in sacks/game (0.55) and fifth in both tackles/game (8.2) and solo tackles/game (5.4). The Rams open the 2018 season on Saturday, September 1, as they travel to Charlotte, N.C., to face the Charlotte 49ers at 6:00 p.m.
