Preseason Football Camp is Upon us as 110 Student-Athletes Report


STONY BROOK, N.Y. - There is something to rejoice about on Stony Brook's campus on Thursday as 110 football student-athletes reported for the start of the 2018 preseason training camp signifying the official start of football season. Thursday's report day began with a team meeting at 7:30 a.m. followed by moving in to the dorms. The student-athletes also had physicals and were fitted for equipment as well as had meetings with the coaching staffs and support staffs. The squad's first scheduled practice will be Friday at 9:20 a.m. in Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. The Seawolves, who open the 2018 season on Sept. 1 in Colorado Spring against FBS opponent Air Force, will have 19 scheduled camp practices (click here for full schedule (PDF)), including three scrimmages, over the next four weeks. All practices and scrimmages will take place in LaValle Stadium and are open to the public. Stony Brook begins camp looking to build upon it's 10-3 overall record in 2017 and second-place finish in the CAA with a 7-1 mark. The Seawolves advanced to the second round of the 2017 NCAA Division I Football Championships. The home opener for the 2018 slate will be Sept. 8 when Stony Brook welcomes Bryant to LaValle Stadium for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
