Wagner's Ryan Fulse named second-team preseason All-American
Staten Island, NY - Wagner College football senior running back Ryan Fulse has been named Second-Team Preseason All-American By Lindy's Sports. In 2018, the Fort Meade, FL native is looking to build upon his maiden season on Grymes Hill where he ranked No. 4 among all Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) rushers. Fulse, who was named to the Northeast Conference (NEC) Preseason Team last month, was named Wagner's 2017 Offensive Player of the Year at the Seahawks' postseason banquet.
A standout at Monroe College (NY) for two seasons prior to his Wagner arrival, capped his brilliant 2017breakout campaign by eclipsing the 100-yard rushing mark for the fifth straight game in the season-ending win at Sacred Heart (11/11). His 26-carry, 192-yard effort that day allowed him to finish the regular season as the NEC rushing champion with 1,306 yards on 216 carries, which computes to a eye-popping 6.0 yards per rush average. In addition to ranking fourth nationally, his 1,306 yards on the ground was good for ninth place on the Seahawk all-time single-season list. The 5-11, 195-pound speedster closed the 2017 season with six 100-yard plus efforts in his last seven games and four straight. A three-time NEC Offensive Player of the Week honoree, his. season-high three-touchdown effort vs. Sacred Heart gave him 12 for the season, His top offensive output came vs. Bryant (10/28) when he rumbled for 228 yards on 25 carries in becoming the first Seahawk to hit the double-century mark since Dominique Williams in 2011. Fulse is one of three players hailing from NEC institutions to earn a spot on the Lindy's All-FCS Team, along with Central Connecticut offensive lineman J'Von Brown and Duquesne defense back Abner Roberts. The Seahawks, under the direction of fourth-year head coach Jason Houghtaling, will open the 2018 season on Thursday, August 30 when the Seahawks play host to the Bowie State University Bulldogs.
