Preseason Rolls on with Home Exhibition on Monday

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team began preseason training this past Wednesday, as a 30-player roster with 13 newcomers played for the first time as an organized unit on the practice field behind Joseph J. Morrone Stadium with hot and humid conditions throughout the week. The Huskies are preparing for their first test of the preseason on Monday night, as No. 25 Colgate visits campus for an exhibition game that begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free for all in attendance and postgame autographs will be held following the contest. "We're going to start with basic stuff right off the bat. Basic fundamentals and focus on how we want to play," said head coach Ray Reid, entering his 22nd season at UConn. "We want to play with toughness and with a real edge." Colgate earned a ranking in the Top-25 of the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll coming off a Patriot League championship in 2017, while advancing to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. It is the first of two home exhibitions for UConn, with the second coming against Syracuse on Saturday, Aug. 18 (7 p.m.).
