Trio Of Big Red Rowers To Represent US At World Championship

ITHACA, N.Y. – USRowing has announced that Cornell alumni Michael Colella '16, Tracy Eisser'12, and Alex Karwoski '12 will be among the 72-person roster that will represent the United States at the 2018 World Rowing Championships September 9-16 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Colella will make his second consecutive appearance in the men's pair after taking fifth in the B final a year ago to finish 11th in the world. A member of the senior national team since 2014, Eisser will compete for the first time in the women's eight. A former Big Red walk-on, Eisser earned a silver medal in the women's pair at the 2017 World Championships. That success came after three impressive years rowing in the quadruple sculls where she earned a fifth-place finish at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and a gold medal at the World Championships in 2015. Karwoski continues his tenure with the men's eight after winning silver at the 2017 World Championships. He was the lone holdover from the men's eight that finished fourth at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. The US will have 27 crews competing in the eight-day regatta. Complete press coverage, athlete bios and links to event information will be available at www.usrowing.org and www.worldrowing.com.
