Medunjanin signs pro contract

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Former Skidmore College basketball standout Aldin Medunjanin will be taking his talents to Germany this fall after signing a professional contract with MTV Herzoge in the Bundesliga Pro B in Wolfenbuttel. The 2017 graduate was Skidmore's first men's basketball All-American. The two-time Liberty League Player of the Year, became the program's all-time leader in assists (552) in his senior season and finished second in career points (1,684). He was the Liberty League's first two-time Player of the Year award winner after winning the honors in the 2014-15 season and was named to the d3hoops.com All-East Region team twice. He led the Thoroughbreds to the 2015 Liberty League championship and NCAA tournament bids in 2015 and 2017. Injured for the 2016 season, he assisted the Thoroughbred coaching staff as the team won the 2016 Liberty League championship. The league is allowed to roster only one American player and Dukes coach Steven Esterjkamp was looking for "leadership" and "toughness" for the young Dukes team. Qualities Medunjanin perfected at Skidmore. "I cannot wait to meet my teammates and club leaders and play at the professional level," Medunjanin said. "It has always been a dream of mine." "He is the best all-around basketball player in program history," said Skidmore coach Joe Burke. "We are excited to watch his career continue on the professional level." Medunjanin is scheduled to arrive in Wolfenbuttel the week of August 12 for preseason. The team opens its season on Sept. 22
