FINAL SCORE #20 NC State 1 (2-0-0) Monmouth 0 (1-1-0) RALEIGH, NC – The Monmouth University women's soccer team battled #20 NC State to a scoreless draw through 90 regulation minutes and a first overtime period, but the Wolfpack prevailed with a goal in the 103rd minute to defeat the Hawks on Monday night at Dail Soccer Stadium. The home side broke the deadlock less than three minutes into double overtime when Kristina Schuster took a pass at the top of the Monmouth penalty area, sidestepped a defender and scored into the upper right corner past Amanda Knaub. Knaub finished the night with five saves in a losing effort. The Hawks had their chances to score in the match, including two attempts that struck the crossbar, one in each half, by senior forward Alli DeLuca. NOTES & QUOTES "We had a game plan. The team followed it and we competed at a high level. It was a disappointing result as we had some terrific chances in front of goal.
