PIRATES ADD FORMER FIVE STAR DESIREE ELMOR

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Head coach Anthony Bozzella and Seton Hall women's basketball have secured the pledge of former five-star recruit Desiree Elmore (Hartford, Conn.) as a transfer to The Hall. Elmore joins the program after two seasons at Syracuse and will have three years of eligibility remaining. "Desiree is an extremely talented player who we recruited out of high school and are blessed to get back on the court as soon as possible," Bozzella said. "I'm glad she thought highly of us during the recruiting process and am thrilled that she is coming in now. Des is a highly skilled attacking basketball player who perfectly fits our style of play and has every opportunity to thrive in the BIG EAST." Elmore was a five-star recruit and the No. 51 player in the 2016 ESPNW Hoopgurlz rankings coming out of Capital Prep in Hartford, Conn. The 5'10 athlete saw time in 24 contests as a freshman at Syracuse in 2016-17, averaging 2.3 points per game. Elmore showed flashes of excellence in limited action for an experienced NCAA Tournament team, including season-highs of 15 points against Niagara (Dec. 10) and six rebounds at Stony Brook (Nov. 18). She would go on to miss the entirety of the 2017-18 with an injury. At Capital Prep, Elmore was a 2016 McDonald's All-America nominee and a four-time Class L All-State selection. She led the Lady Blazers to four-straight state titles, finishing No. 1 in the state rankings every year and never losing a game against a team from the state of Connecticut. Elmore was the 2015-16 New Haven Register Connecticut Player of the Year after a senior season that saw her average 26.7 points, 15.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 3.7 steals and 3.5 blocked shots per contest. She finished her prep career with school records in points, rebounds, steals and blocks.
