Stony Brook Remains on the Road to Take On No. 14 Notre Dame, Seton Hall


STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- The Stony Brook women's soccer team remains on the road this weekend, taking on No. 14 Notre Dame on Thursday night before making the quick trip to New Jersey to take on Seton Hall Sunday afternoon. The Seawolves are coming off of an overtime victory at Oregon State over the weekend and sit at 1-1 on the year. Seawolves Notes - Sophomore Alyssa Francese (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) has scored in each of the team's games so far this season, including the game-winning penalty kick to lift the Seawolves past Oregon State. - Sophomore Sofia Manner (Helsinki, Finland) set a new career high with 12 save at Oregon State. She matched her previous best with nine stops in the first half. This was the first time she has reached double figures int he category. - The Seawolves are coming off of their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2013 after winning the America East Championship a season ago. - Stony Brook was selected to finish second in the America East this season, behind New Hampshire. - Sofia Manner was named 2017 America East Rookie of the Year after an impressive collegiate debut, while classmates Alyssa Francese and Fanny Gotesson (Varnamo, Sweden) joined her on the league's All-Rookie team, and now senior Kaitlin Loughren (Huntington, N.Y.) boasted second team honors. - The Seawolves return the bulk of their offensive production from as season ago. Classmates Alyssa Francese and Rachel Florenz (East Islip. N.Y.) led the way with nine and six goals, respectively, while fellow sophomores Kimmy Chavkin (Franklin, N.J.) and Fanny Gotesson ​​​​​​ added five assist apiece. - Sofia Manner started 20 of the 21 games she played in last season, finishing the year with a 1.13 goals against average, and a .797 save percentage. - Stony Brook returns 13 letterwinners from the championship squad, including eight starters. - The team has also welcomed eight newcomers for the 2018 season. Six freshmen have joined the squad, as well as UMBC transfer Skyler Mackey (Washington, D.C.) and former Stony Brook women's lacrosse team member Carolyn Carrera (Riverhead, N.Y.). Scouting Notre Dame - Notre Dame enters the week as the No. 14 team in the nation, boasting a 2-0 record. - The Irish topped Central Michigan and Loyola at home during the opening weekend of the season. - Eva Hurm has put away two goals so far this season, while Sabrina Flores also has four points (1g, 2a). - Brooke Littman and Mattie Interian have each logged a full game in goal for the Irish. Littman has tallied five saves, while Interian made two in her first game of the season. Scouting Seton Hall - Seton Hall sits at 0-1-1 on the year, and will face Loyola on Thursday night before the Seawolves come to town. - The Pirates fell at Siena 1-0, in their opener before a 0-0 draw at home with Delaware. - Seton Hall has yet to score this season. Anna Maclean has earned both decisions so far this year, making eight saves through the first two games
