VOLLEYBALL STARTS THE SEASON OFF WITH A STRONG PERFORMANCE
Garden City, NY) Nassau Volleyball opened up their non conference season today vs Jefferson CC.
The match started out very exciting keeping the score close but with 9 kills and 3 aces we were able to finish that game 25-21.Dominique Albright had a great presence at the net with 3 kills, and a block. Jamie Demmett had 9 assists and Genesis Zepedas serve receive was on point and she also contributed 4 digs this game.
Game 2 was much of the same, close game but we were able to pull away when it counted, Emily Kaufmann and Alicja Zaborowska contributed 4 kills and 1 serving ace each. The 2nd game ended with us in the win column at 25-21.
Up 2-0 I warned the ladies to keep vigilant. The other team needs this win or the match is over. Stay mentally focused and fundamentally sound. Alicja Zaborowska started off the match and served the first 19 points without interruption, 7 of them aces, before Jefferson was able to earn a point. We did let our guard down a bit and Jefferson was fighting to get back in the game. The final score was 25-10.
A season home opener win, especially in 3 games, is just what these ladies needed to boost their confidence for the season.
Overall producers were:
Dominique Albright and Emily Kauffman both with 7 kills a piece, with Dom adding 3 block Solos and 2 Block assists. Alicja Zaborowska contributed 10 serving aces. and Jamie Demmett racked up 23 assists, 4 digs.
