Week 1: Football Preview
MADISON, N.J. (August 30, 2018) - The Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham football begins its 2018 campaign with a showdown against in-state rival The College of New Jersey Friday night. GAME INFO The Devils and Lions will square off under the lights at Robert T. Shields Field at 7 p.m. TICKET INFO The cost for tickets is: $10 - Adults $5 - Senior Citizens/Children Over 12/Visiting students Free - FDU Students/Faculty/Staff with ID/Children under 12 LAST MEETING The two sides met in the season-opener last season, as FDU came out with a thrilling 38-24 victory. In the win, senior Jagger Green went 40-for-58 with a club record 593 yards and tossed five scores. Malik Pressley was the recipient of three touchdowns, catching 16 passes for 271 yards. 2018 CAPTAINS Along with Green, fellow seniors Mike Panzarino, Isaiah Turner, Robert Planter and Ryan Wilson will serve as team captains this season. GOING GREEN Green set several school-records last season including six touchdowns passing against Misericordia and 52 completions against Lycoming. Additionally, his 589 yards passing against TCNJ was the most across all Divisions during the first week of the season. GOOD HANDS PANZ Panzarino is back for one final season, and already has been in the single-season record book for receptions twice. He had 79 grabs in 2017 and 78 in 2016, ranking him second and third respectively. The senior is also just under 1,000 yards from Pressley's career receiving yards mark and 86 catches from passing Pressley in career receptions. TURNER TIME After finishing fourth in the country with 13.5 tackles per game, Turner looks to have one final memorable year. A Second Team All-MAC selection, the senior also excelled in the classroom, gaining Academic All-MAC honors. Two seasons ago, Turner was a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree. D-LINE NOTES Kyle Connelly, who was named to the D3Football.com Team of the Week last year teams with Planter to create a formidable defensive line. The duo combined for seven sacks, while Connelly had 13 tackles against Lebanon Valley last season. MAGIC MAN Nick Maciejewski is back again to handle the kicking and punting duties for the Devils. Last season he was 4-for-5 on field goals and knocked through 23 extra points. Punting, Maciejewski booted 61 balls, including a long of 61 yards. TCNJ REPORT The Lions went 4-6 last season, including a 4-5 mark in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. The Lions return a trio of All-NJAC performers in Max Busca, Vincent Guckin and Zach Warcola.
