Volleyball Holds Off Siena In Morning Match, 3-2


ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell volleyball team didn't let Siena's rally shake them, putting it all together in the fifth set in a 3-2 victory over the Saints on Saturday morning at Newman Arena on day two of the Big Red Invitational. Cornell captured the 25-12, 25-19, 18-25, 23-25, 15-8 victory to improve to 2-0, while Siena fell to 0-5 on the year. Avery Hanan had 15 kills and four blocks to lead the home team, while Sophia Beaudoin notched 11 kills, 10 digs and three service aces. Both setters recorded double-doubles - Zoe Chamness had 30 assists and 10 digs and Katie Randolph notched 18 assists and 10 digs. Chamness added three aces, while Lily Barber posted 17 digs. In all, the Big Red served 10 aces and was credited with 10 blocks. Cornell controlled the first two sets, hitting .308 in easy victories before the Saints stole the momentum. Dakota Jackson had 14 kills and 15 digs, Antonija Ivanovic had 12 kills and 10 digs and Jessica Eblin ended the morning with 37 assists and 15 digs. Libero JoJo Ishida had 20 digs in the loss. The Big Red will close out the tournament tonight at 7 p.m. when it meets St. John's
