Pace Field Hockey Shuts Down Limestone, 1-0
GAFFNEY, S.C. – Taking the field for the first time this fall, the Pace University field hockey team earned a 1-0 win over Limestone College on Monday morning. The Setters have now began each of the last three seasons with a shutout victory. Sophomore Mia Lennon (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland)provided the heroics for Pace, netting the game-winning tally in the 39th minute. She was assisted on the play by senior Katrina Mikitish (Pittston, PA/Pittston Area), who gathered a rebound following a blocked shot from classmate Jane Kasparian (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac). The Setters, who led the nation in goals-against average a year ago, were back to their stingy ways on Monday. Pace notched its ninth shutout since the beginning of last year, allowing just two shots on goal in the process. Freshman Grace Henderson (Kingswood, South Australia/Unley) earned the win in net, registering a pair of saves in her first-career start. Up Next The Setters will be on the road once again on Saturday, heading to Connecticut for a matchup against the University of New Haven at 1 p.m.
