Zsani Kajan Named to TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week

QUEENS, N.Y. (Sept. 4, 2018) – After recording the first hat trick of her collegiate career on Sunday to lift St. John's to a convincing 5-1 win over Stony Brook, Zsani Kajan earned national recognition from TopDrawerSoccer, finding an honorable mention spot on the website's Team of the Week. Kajan, who became the first Johnnie to win BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week accolades this season, earned a spot on the honorable mention list for TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week after her efforts in lifting the Johnnies to a 2-1 week. In addition to her trio of goals in Sunday's contest, Kajan recorded one goal and one assist in the Red Storm's 3-0 shutout victory against Sacred Heart on Monday. The Budapest, Hungary, native also tallied a goal off a penalty kick in the team's 2-1 setback at Drexel on Thursday night. With her hat trick in Sunday's match, Kajan became the first player to record a hat trick since Oct. 11, 2015, when Rachel Dalyscored three times in a 4-0 win over Creighton at Belson Stadium. Over a three-game span, the redshirt sophomore recorded five goals and 11 points. With a total six goals and 13 points on the young season, Kajan leads the BIG EAST in both statistical categories and has tripled her goal total from the 2017 campaign. Kajan and the St. John's women's soccer team return to action Friday evening, traveling to California for a contest with Long Beach State. First kick is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET.
