Brockport Football: Game Two Preview

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The No. 5 College at Brockport football team is headed on the road to take on the Ithaca College Bombers this Saturday at 1 p.m. DATE – TIME: September 8, 2018 – 1 p.m. LOCATION: Butterfield Stadium– Ithaca, N.Y. LINKS: Video | Stats | Game Notes After a statement first appearance against Hobart College, the team gained rank on the D3Football.com national standings, finding themselves in the number five spot to start week two. In their trek back to the NCAA Championships, the Green and Gold started their 2018 campaign with a powerhouse offensive performance, making quick work of Hobart College 56-7. With both the Golden Eagles and Bombers coming off of a win to start their seasons, the matchup looks to be promising. When these two teams met last, the Golden Eagles grabbed their second win of the season, shutting out the Bombers 31-0. The win marked the first time since 2002 that the Golden Eagles had come out victorious over the Bombers. Brockport is looking to carry their strong offensive performance into week two, after producing 517 total yards of offense and 90 percent completion percentage. To add to that, the last time QB Joe Germinerio appeared at Butterfield Stadium, he completed 24 for 37 with a total 268 yards on the day. Germinerio's strong performance in Saturday's game couldn't have been successful without the collective effort of the rushing and receiving teams. DaQuan Hubbard both literally and figuratively ran the field, recording eight passes received for 135 yards and one touchdown. Production on the defensive end hasn't disappointed either with strong performances coming from a number of players. Defensive back Matt Arita looks to drive the defensive effort this week as well after making a statement last weekend, collecting two interceptions including a pick-six which he returned for a 60-yard touchdown. The defense would also find strength in Tim Terry, Lawrence Jenkins, and Matt Szymanski, who collectively accounted for 30 tackles, including three for a loss of yards. With a strong week of practice under their belts, the Golden Eagles are eager to add another dominating performance to their season. The Green and Gold will return to Bob Boozer Stadium next Saturday at 1 p.m. for their homecoming weekend matchup against St. Lawrence University.
