Senior Linebacking Duo of McGinty and Lawless Lead the Seawolves Into the Home Opener Against Bryant
STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Stony Brook football senior linebackers Noah McGinty (Carlsbad, Calif.) and Shayne Lawless (Moorestown, N.J.) lead the Seawolves into Saturday's home opener against Bryant at 6 p.m. in Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. The non-conference match-up is the second game of the season for both teams. The Seawolves (0-1) fell at FBS foe Air Force last week, while the Bulldogs (1-0) defeated New Haven at home. THE SERIES This will be the fourth meeting between the two programs. Stony Brook owns a 2-1 series advantage, but Bryant claimed the last meeting, 13-7, in the season-opener in 2014 in LaValle Stadium. HOME OPENER Stony Brook opens the home potion of the schedule with the first of five games in LaValle Stadium. The Seawolves are 8-4 in the home opener under head coach Chuck Priore, including a victory over Sacred Heart last season. QUICK HITTERS • Stony Brook is 10-10 in season openers since moving to Division I in 1999. AGAINST THE MILITARY ACADEMIES Stony Brook is now 7-5 all-time against the United States' Military Academies after the loss at Air Force. The Seawolves knocked off FBS foe Army 23-3 in 2012, are 3-0 against the Coast Guard Academy, are 3-4 against the Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point) and are 0-1 against Air Force. VS. FBS The season-opener at Air Force marked the 11th time Stony Brook faced a FBS opponent on the gridiron. The Seawolves are now 1-9 against FBS teams in the previous meetings. He is 30 completions away from moving up to third, 25 attempts from moving up to third, 85 passing yards away from sliding up to fourth and three passing touchdowns from moving up to fifth. LIOTINE CRACKS THE TOP 10 Senior RB Donald Liotine sits 10th in Stony Brook's career all-purpose yards list with 2635 yards entering the Bryant game. He has 1709 rushing yards, 145 receiving yards and 781 kick return yards. Liotine needs 148 yards to move up to ninth place.
