Green Sets Two Career Records as Football Pushes Past William Paterson

WAYNE, N.J. (September 8, 2018) - Senior Jagger Green established two career records as the FDU-Florham football team topped William Paterson 31-17 Saturday afternoon. Green became the career leader in passing yards and passing completions, overtaking Bill Winters in both categories. The Devils opened the season 2-0 for the first time since the 2010 season, and will look to make it three straight for the first time since 1995 next Saturday against Alvernia. Junior Stewart Saharic ended the opening Pioneers drive with an interception at the 36 yard line, putting the Devils offense in great field position. Green needed just four plays before he found Damarquis Price for an 18 yard touchdown. On the ensuing drive, senior Robert Planter registered his first career interception, taking the pick back 47 yards to give the Devils a 14-0 lead. The Pioneers turned the ball over for the third time in the quarter, as junior Dane Lupton recovered a fumble at midfield. Green tossed his second score of the day, this time finding junior Khrystan Camilo for a 25 yard strike. Senior Isaiah Turnernotched the fourth turnover of the quarter, this time picking off a pass at the William Paterson 43. FDU closed out the first half scoring as junior Nick Maciejewski converted his first field goal of the season, hitting from 25 yards. William Paterson got on the board in the third quarter, blocking a punt in the end-zone and recovering the ball to make the score 24-7. After a Devils three-and-out, the Pioneers continued to press and notched a 49-yard completion, putting the ball at the FDU four. The defensive unit made a big stand, stopping WPU from the one yard line on consecutive plays. WPU ended up settling for a field goal. FDU wasted no time scoring in the fourth quarter, as the first play of the frame went for pay-dirt. Green hooked up with senior Mike Panzarino for a season-long 47 yard touchdown to establish the three touchdown lead. The Pioneers scored on their next position, using a 13-play, 80-yard drive to get the score to 31-17, but it was as close as they would get. Green was 35-of-45 for 320 yards and three scores, as Panzarino had 11 catches for 144 yards and a score. Planter had two sacks and the pick-six, while Turner led the team with nine tackles, an interception and a pass defensed. FDU had seven tackles for a loss on the afternoon while adding three sacks.
