Wright Earns Second Straight Offensive Player of the Week Honors after Record-Setting Performance

Marshfield Mass. - The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) named senior quarterback Thomas Wright (Wantagh, N.Y., Wantagh) the Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week after his record-setting performance against Massachusetts Maritime. The Wantagh, NY native rarely missed his target in the Chowder Bowl completing 17 of 22 passes for 231 yards and a single-game program record, five touchdowns. Wright finished with a quarterback efficiency rating of 240.5 and helped the Privateers win the game 51-21. The five touchdowns also mark the most total touchdowns in a game by any player in program history. This honor marks back-to-back Offensive Player of the Week nods after Wright helped the Privateers win the season opener with 264 yards through the air and a 70% completion rate. He finished with two passing touchdowns as well one on the ground. Wright is now 45 of 62 with 492 yards on the season at an impeccable 72.58 completion percentage. With eight total touchdowns on the season, the quarterback is now tied for the program record in touchdowns responsible for. He is also currently the record holder in passing touchdowns, total offensive yards, completion percentage, and passing yards, according to the Maritime Athletics record books. The Privateers will look to remain undefeated on the season Friday, Sep. 14 at 7:00 p.m. as they take on USMMA at Reinhart Field.
