Victory Over ASA Becomes Coach Fisher's 200th Win
(Garden City, NY) Under the rain, wind, and bright lights of the Nassau soccer pitch on Monday night, the Men's soccer team competed against Division I NJCAA ASA Avengers. Nassau got out quick and put the first goal on the board. ASA responded minutes later, tying the game. Although there were a few valiant efforts, neither team was able to score for the rest of the first half. The second half ended up being a stalemate, pushing the game into overtime. 6 minutes into OT, #13 Bryan Moreno scored the winning goal to bring home a 2-1 victory for the Lions. Other outstanding players of the game were Mike Martinez, who played excellent defense in the back of the field, while Ralph Castillo helped control midfield. This wasn't just any win for the Lions. This victory marked the 200th win for Head Coach Dan Fisher. Post game, Coach Fisher commented, "We played a great game considering the conditions. The kids played hard and made the chances they had count. Not only did we get the win tonight, but we defeated an NJCAA Division I team, which says a lot about our potential." Nassau looks to keep the momentum rolling into Thursday as they go up against Kingsborough Community College.
