Late Goal Not Enough For the Lions

Garden City, NY) Women's soccer faced high ranked and previously a three time national championship defending team, Brookdale Community College. Beginning the game, Brookdale came out strong but Nassau did a great job at containing them. Mid way into the first half, Brookdale got their first goal. With about eight minutes left in the first half, NCC came back to equalize. The goal was scored off a corner kick from Nathalie Garcia and was finished by Nataly Ramirez, her second of the season. Going into the second half, the momentum of the game was back up on both sides. For 76 minutes the teams remained tied until a foul was caused on the NCC side, and Brookdale came up with a goal from a free kick. Brookdale secured a third goal late in the second half to end the contest at 3-1. Unparalled effort coming from goalkeeper Maraya Jones, making some big time saves in goal. Captain Diana Lemus continued to lead the team in the center of the field and Julia Fazio and Brienna Sullivan showed great perseverance on the back line. The Lady Lions will take on Suffolk Community College on Thursday, September 20th at 4:00pm.
