Women's Volleyball Sweeps CUNYAC Weekly Awards


Brooklyn, NY---Released by the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) this afternoon, senior outside hitter, Michaela Appel, and freshman setter, Ezri Shor, have been named the conference's Women's Volleyball Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week respectively. The duo helped the Bulldogs to an undefeated 3-0 record for the week including a 3-0 conference sweep of CCNY on Thursday. Appel would get better as the week progressed. She would put away 14 kills in a dramatic 3-2 non-conference victory over the College of Staten Island in the first match of Saturday's tri-match. She closed out the week with a match-high 16 kills in a 3-1 win over Old Westbury in Bulldogs second match of Saturday's tri-match. Shor repeats as Rookie of the Week with three monster outings. On Thursday, she put away a match-high 15 kills in the 3-0 sweep of CCNY. She would top that with a career-high and match-high 19 kills in Saturday's win over CSI. Shor proved her versatility in Saturday's win over Old Westbury, finishing with 11 kills to go along with a match-high 21 assists. The Bulldogs will be home tomorrow, September 18, against St. Joe's Brooklyn at 7:00 pm.
