Pace Field Hockey Slotted 10th in NFHCA National Poll


PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University field hockey team finds itself back on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) poll for a second consecutive week, being slotted in at No. 10 in the latest rankings released on Tuesday, Sept. 18. The Blue and Gold went 1-1 last week, improving to a 3-0 start following a 3-0 victory against Mercy last Wednesday before suffering the first defeat of the season at Assumption on Saturday. Halley Rose(Dauphin, PA/Central Dauphin) was the top goal-scorer for Pace during last week's contests, scoring twice in the win against the Mavericks. Rose, Jenna Sanossian (Miller Place, NY/Rocky Point), and Mia Lennon(Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Lakeland) lead the Setters with three goals each this season. Freshman goalkeeper Grace Henderson (Kingswood, South Australia/Unley) continues to shut down opposing offenses, sporting a conference-best 0.67 goals-against average. She has allowed just three goals in more than 315 minutes in the cage this season. The Setters continued their phenomenal play to open up the new week, earning a 3-1 victory over Molloy on Tuesday night. Sanossian, Rachel Platko (Hanover Township, PA/Holy Redeemer), and Lieke van Nieuwenhuizen (Utrecht, Netherlands/St. Bonifatius) all scored for the Setters, while Henderson had 60:15 shutout minutes in net. Pace returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Bentley University for a noon matchup.
