Bradley's Late Goal Gives Women's Soccer Win At Iona


NEW ROCHELLE, New York – The Marist women's soccer team picked up its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win of the season after defeating the Iona Gaels 2-1 on the road. With the win, the Red Foxes move to 3-4-1 overall (1-0 MAAC). The Gaels fall to 2-8 (0-2 MAAC).

SUMMARY

  • After a slow first 25 minutes, the Red Foxes found the scoresheet after an Iona turnover and cross from Keri Bradley found Kristen Reilly in front of net. Reilly headed it home to give the Red Foxes a 1-0 lead.

  • The Red Foxes looked to be heading into halftime with a lead but a long ball played into the box found the foot of the Gael's Jackie Morris who knocked it into an empty net.

  • Marist kept the pressure on throughout the second half, creating chances by firing balls into the Iona box. In the 61st minute, Kristen Prevosto fired one off the cross bar after a free kick from straight away.

  • The Red Foxes finally broke through in the 86th minute when Keri Bradley fired a shot from outside the box on the left side of goal. Bradley's beautifully stuck ball found the top right corner of net securing victory for the Red Foxes.

NOTES

  • Both Reilly's and Bradley's goals were their third of the season.

  • Reilly poured a team-leading five shots towards net, four of which were on goal.

  • This is the Red Foxes' second consecutive conference opening win.

Marist continues on with conference play as the Red Foxes host the Canisius Golden Griffins on Wednesday, September 26th. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Tenney Stadium.
