Men's Cross Country Races For Another Top 3 Finish In The Mount Saint Mary Knight Invitational


The third place Privateers were led by a performance that consisted of having two top 15 finishers as well as four top 50 finishers. In the field of over 250 student-athletes, six Privateers finished within the top 100. Coming in first for the Privateers was Sean Hobson (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge), who finished fifth overall with a time of 29:20. Hobson, who was last weeks Skyline Conference Runner of the Week, added yet another top five finish to his already impressive 2018. Trailing Hobson at 15th place was Curtis Bates (Honesdale, Pa./Damascus Christian). Bates crossed the finish line at 29:59. Bates has now broken the 30 minute mark for his second consecutive meet. Finishing next for the Privateers was another upper classman in Junior Marco Rosado (Lajas, Puerto Rico/Academia San Agustin y Espiritu Santo). Rosado ran a time of 31:00 which garnered 28 points for Maritime. Next for the Privateers, at 48th place was Kyle O'Brien (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington). O'Brien ran the course in a time of 31:47. The next Maritime finisher was senior Christian Berglin (Hampton Bays, N.Y./Hampton Bays), who had a time of 33:20. Berglin brought in 67 points for the Privateers. The next point scorer to cross the finish line for Maritime was Konrad Biedermann (Garrison, N.Y./Walter Panas). Biedermann ran for a time of 33:54. The final point scorer for the Privateers was Derek Nielsen (Clinton Corners, N.Y./Stissing Mountain) who scored a total of 89 points and finished with a time of 34:29. The women's team took to the course for their fifth competition on the 2018 season. In the field of 26, the Privateers garnered a finish of 13. The Privateers morning was highlighted by the performance of Ekaterina Aaron (Clarence, N.Y., Clarence). Aaron ran a time of 28:35 which was good enough for her to finish in 30th place among 200 competitors. Three places behind the senior was Bethany Champlin (Bronx, N.Y./Saint Vincent). Champlin came in for the Privateers with a time of 28:44.The next finisher for the Privateers was Emily Zink (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) with a time of 29:41. With 50 points, Zink was the third top 50-point scorer for the Privateers. Charlotte Anich (Flushing, N.Y./Malloy High School) continued her solid rookie campaign with a 33:14. Sophomore Celine Prenatt (Annapolis, Md./South River) was the next Privateer to cross the finish line, with a time of 33:57. The last two point scorers for the Privateers was a duo of upperclassman in junior Elizabeth Payne (Villas, N.J./Cape May Technical HS), who had a time of 34:30 and senior Riley Huang (Brooklyn, N.Y./Midwood), who had a time of 39:23. Both Privateers teams will return to competition in two weeks' time in the St. Joseph's Invitational. In their last regular season meet of the season, the women's race will start at 1:00 p.m. and the men's race will start at 1:45 p.m.
