Monroe Women’s Cross Country Places Fifth at Louisville Classic


LOUISVILLE, Ky., September 29, 2018 – Competing against some of the top NCAA teams in the country, the Monroe College women's cross country team captured fifth place out of 43 teams in the silver division of the University of Louisville Classic on Saturday. Claudrice McKoy stole the show on Saturday, finishing fourth overall out of 346 competitors with a 5K time of 18:56.9, a new personal-best time. Faten Laribi finished 12th at the meet, clocking in at 19:30.8. Lethabo Seema was the third Mustang to finish, tying her personal-best time of 20:22.6. Joanna Archer was close behind her with a personal-best time of 20:40.5. Malethabo Seema crossed the line at 21:15.5, a season-best time. Elizabeth Mendy ran a personal-best time as well as the meet, finishing in 23:58.5. Amy Niang also ran her best time, clocking in at 25:12.5. The Mustangs will be the hosts of their next meet, as they welcome teams to Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx on Friday, Oct. 12, for the Monroe Mustangs Cross Country Homecoming Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, and the newly added club men's volleyball team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
