Swimming & Diving Announces Hiring of Eric Blevins
EWING, N.J. – The College of New Jersey swimming & diving program is proud to announce the hiring of Eric Blevins as diving coach. "I am really excited to welcome Coach Blevins to our staff," head women's swimming & diving coach Jennifer Harnett '93 said. "He has great technical knowledge that he translates well to all levels of divers, and his experience with recruiting from across the country will bring in the right student-athlete for TCNJ. He is a great addition to the TCNJ swimming & diving program and I am looking forward to see how far he takes it." Blevins joins the Lions from nearby Rider University, where he has been the diving coach since August of 2011. During his tenure there, he coached nine NCAA Zone A qualifiers. Blevins produced the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Diver of the Year in 2012 and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Diver of the Year in 2013, 2014, and 2018. The Rider men's swimming & diving team has been MAAC Champions every season he has coached there. Blevins was also responsible for producing five individual MAAC Champions as well as three ECAC Champions. "We are pleased to welcome Eric Blevins to the TCNJ swimming & diving family," said head men's swimming & diving coach David Dow. "He has a proven track record of helping his student-athletes achieve success at both the conference and NCAA level. His outstanding technical knowledge, strong athlete development, and on-deck passion and energy are going to be instrumental in taking our diving program to new heights." Prior to landing at Rider, Blevins was the diving coach at University of Evansville. During his time there he was named 2011 Missouri Valley Diving Coach of the Year, and he produced the 2011 Missouri Valley Co-Diver of the Year. Additionally, Blevins coached three NCAA Zone C qualifiers. Blevins enjoyed a terrific collegiate diving career himself. He was a standout at Grinnell College, as he was an eight time conference champion as well as a two time All-American. In 2014 Blevins was inducted to the Grinnell Athletics Hall of Fame. The swimming & diving season begins on Oct. 27, when the Lions will face Montclair State University.
