MSOC: Hofstra Returns To Action Saturday Night At Delaware


Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University Men's Soccer team is back in action after a week off when it travels to Delaware Saturday for a Colonial Athletic Association matchup at 7 p.m. at Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium. The Pride is 5-3-3 on the season and 2-0-1 in the CAA. Hofstra is riding a seven game unbeaten streak (5-0-2) and has not conceded a goal during that time. The seven straight shutouts is the longest active streak in Division I and a program record. The Pride has won its last two games, 1-0 over Drexel and 4-0 versus William & Mary. Matthew Vowinkel, who had two goal versus the Tribe, leads the team in scoring with six goals and 12 points. Luke Brown has seven points on three goals and an assist while Marcus Lindqvist (1 G, 3 A),Sean Nealis (1 G, 3 A), and George O'Malley (2 G, 1 A) each have five points. Lindqvist, Nealis and Storm Strongin each have a team-best three assists.Alex Ashton has played every minute in goal and has a 0.78 goals against average, 41 saves, and a .820 save percentage. Delaware is 3-7 overall and 2-1 in the CAA. The Blue Hens are coming off a 1-0 victory at Elon on Wednesday behind Timo Humerich's goal. The freshman leads the team with three goals on the season. Robert Campbell has two goals and an assist for Delaware while Todd Morton has been the primary keeper and has 26 saves, a 2.17 goals against average, and a .605 save percentage.
