Men's Swimming Knocked Off by Wilkes


MADISON, N.J. (October 6, 2018) - The FDU-Florham men's swim team fell to Wilkes 152-51 Saturday afternoon in the season-opening meet. The team started the afternoon with a third place finish in the 200-medley relay. The quartet of freshmen Sam DiLiberto and Ethan Cross along with sophomore Eric Bang and junior Michael Illick turned in a time of 1:49.62, just .4 seconds away from second place. Bang notched a Middle Atlantic Conference Championship "A" cut time of 1:51.37 in the 200-yard freestyle, placing first in the process. The sophomore also claimed first in the 500-freestyle, touching the wall in 5:10.52. DiLiberto took second in the 50-free with a mark of 24:68. He missed first by a mere .08 seconds. Senior Nicholas DiBenedetto registered a third place time of 2:18.54 in the 200-yard IM, qualifying for the MAC Championships in the process. Sophomore Joshua Atkins and Illick each qualified for the conference meet, recording times of 1:01.89 and 1:02.54 respectively in the 100-butterfly. DiLiberto was another qualifier for the MAC Championships in his collegiate debut, registering a second place time of 1:01.56 in the 100-backstroke. DiBenedetto finished third in the 500-freestyle, while Illick touched fifth in 1:13.47 in the 100-breastroke. Atkings, DiBenedetto along with freshmen Sebastian Romano and James Butcher closed out the day with a mark of 2:00.66 in the 200-freestyle relay.
