Week 7 Football Preview
MADISON, N.J. (October 11, 2018) - Coming off of a bye week, the FDU-Florham football team hosts Wilkes University on Friday. GAME INFO Kickoff at Robert T. Shields is scheduled for 7 p.m. TICKET INFO Ticket prices are: $10 for adults, $5 for senior citizens, children over 12 and visiting students and free for FDU students/faculty/staff with a valid ID. YOUTH FOOTBALL DAY The Devils are hosting Youth Football Day this week. Anyone wearing their youth football jersey gets free admission to the game, while those accompanying them will get in for half price. Youth football players will have a chance to meet and interact with Devils football student-athletes. LAST TIME OUT Prior to the bye week, the Devils notched a 48-34 win over Albright, improving to 4-1 on the season for the first time since 1995. The victory was the first over the Lions in 11 tries. SCOUTING WILKES The Colonels are 3-3 overall on the season, and 2-2 within the Middle Atlantic Conference. Junior Jose Tabora has been named the Middle Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on two occasions, and has accounted for 21 touchdowns. LAST MEETING FDU topped Wilkes 49-31 last season at home, with Green tying the school-record with six touchdowns. Mike Panzarino and Malik Pressley each had three receiving touchdowns, while Panzarino accounted for an additional one through the air. AWARD SEASON Green and classmate Isaiah Turner were named the ECAC South Division Offensive and Defensive Player of the Month last week. Green hasn't thrown for less than 288 yards and two scores in any game thus far. Turner's best game of the year game against Lycoming, recording 16 tackles and a career-high three sacks. GAME-CHANGER With the game against Albright knotted at 34, Turner had the play of the game. With classmate Robert Planter applying pressure, Turner intercepted a pass and ran it back 45 yards for a touchdown. The TD gave the Devils the lead they would not surrender the rest of the afternoon. DEVILS IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS Panzarino is third in the country with 11 receiving touchdowns, and is first with 11.8 catches per games. The senior also is fourth with 758 receiving yards. Green is third in completions per game at 30.6 and is fourth with 20 passing touchdowns. Additionally, the senior is ninth with 1,611 passing yards. Turner is seventh with 12.2 tackles per game, and sixth with 1.5 sacks per game. PICKED IT! The defensive unit has intercepted 10 passes in five games, led by four from senior Ryan Wilson. Wilson has recorded two interceptions in wins over TCNJ and Alvernia. In the win over William Paterson, Planter recorded a pick-six with his first career interception. CAN'T MAKE IT?
